Learn about Bali’s unique culture whilst enjoying a cooking class in Bali that incorporates traditional spices and herbs. Learn how these are grown and produced on the island and take home a piece of Bali’s culture on this Bali food tour.

In this traditional Balinese cooking class you will also be learning about where the food comes from, before you begin your class you’ll get to visit a traditional market to see and learn about the daily activity in selecting local fruits, vegetables and spices that used in your cooking class.

While doing this you will also learn about the complex irrigation system, called “Subak” that is used in the rice paddy fields along the way. This system has been used for hundreds of years and is crucial for the islands survival.

You will be welcomed into a traditional Balinese compound with a beautiful setting overlooking a deep ravine complete with organically grown on site spice garden.

You will meet the family who’s warmth will make you feel very welcomed. Enjoying learning and making a Balinese style offering for the gods, which is typically done every morning. These are called Kuwangen and Canang Sari, which includes a beautiful array of color and nature.

Make traditional Bali Coffee (Bali Kopi), beans are grown on the premises and roasted over an open fire, they are then crushed and strained - enjoy the best cup of coffee we believe you will ever have.

Make a traditional Balinese spice paste used as a base for many dishes – this paste is very fragrant and has a unique sensation for your taste buds. Make coconut oil, which is the best for Balinese cooking.

The kitchen is run by Local Balinese Chef Ketut Budi who studied at The Hotel and Tourism Education Bali, he has worked at several hotels and has thrived in his passion for cooking. He overlooks many hands that will later cater to all your needs.
